Scott Anderson

Each piece I create is about my being “in the moment,” about mixing the emotions that inspire me
with that which is seen. My goal is to take the familiar and expand its color and energy to its
fullest potential.

Scott Anderson is an expressionist painter, whose gripping, bravado style and technique are
almost Baroque in strength and magnetism. As in all baroque art, images practically leap out of
the picture space to overtake the viewer with power of assertion. Oblique angles and swirling
arabesques enliven each canvas

Scott Anderson’s work displays a remarkable mastery of thick dimensional oil painting applied through palette knives. Anderson has been developing this unusual approach since childhood. The visceral quality that comes from applying oils with the palette knife is as deep as the look it creates on the canvas. The fractured, beveled surface displays colors in a unique way, transforming the paining as the light of day changes. It engages artist and appreciator on a deeper emotional level that is compelling and magical. Scott Anderson makes his own paint, panels and frames and uses Japanese painting knifes which he feels are superior in flexibility and strength.

Scott Anderson was born in Hawaii and grew up in tree covered hills of northern California. Scott was immersed in art from his earliest years as his mother was an accomplished artist. He studied art at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, earnings degrees in fine art and illustration. Scott also completed advanced studies at the University of Florence, Italy.
