Matthew Sievers

As the son of an accomplished Idaho artist, Matthew was exposed to many different forms of art and provided with creative suggestions and encouragement. An expressive style in his landscapes includes spontaneous brushwork and liberal use of the palette knife. His energetic paintings resonate through color. His impasto technique makes the light reflect in a particular way giving him additional control over the illumination of his painting. Impasto work pushes his painting into a three dimensional sculptural rendering. His combination of both oil and acrylic in a single composition adds expressiveness to the painting. Matthew Sievers is known to paint a variety of genres.
Matthew studied art at Brigham Young University-Idaho and Utah State University. His courses enabled him to experiment with various media and subjects. He also has had the opportunity to study the art of different cultures while traveling in parts of Africa and Europe. Despite studying art formally Matthew claims his greatest education has been from his father.

Creating art is both exciting and rewarding for Matthew. He loves being able to explore new ideas and express himself through his artwork. He has returned to Idaho with his wife and three sons where he continues to follow new inspiration.
